What is a Provisional Patent? · A provisional patent gets you a patent pending number and allows the term “Patent Pending” to be applied from the date of filing. · A provisional patent protects your invention for One year from filing date. · A provisional patent has a Filing fee of $100.00 to the USPTO for small entity status, or individual inventors ($200 for non-small entity status). · A provisional patent application is a U.
